The Coaches Behind the Mustangs
The Menifee Mustangs coaching staff is composed of dedicated volunteers who embody our mission to inspire and develop young athletes.
With diverse athletic backgrounds and a shared commitment to mentorship, our coaches provide structure, encouragement, and leadership to help athletes build confidence, character, and a lifelong love for the sport.

The Coaches

Coach Paul Turner
Coach Paul joined the Menifee Mustangs in 2023 and brings a wealth of coaching and athletic experience to the team. A former All-American sprinter and standout athlete at Colorado State University, Paul excelled in both football and track before reaching the professional level with the Buffalo Bills in the NFL.
He has coached athletes at the professional, college, and high school levels and is passionate about helping each athlete reach their full potential. Coach Paul believes in meeting every athlete where they are and building on their natural talent to help them grow both on and off the track.

Coach Bryan Howard
Coach Bryan Howard brings world-class sprinting experience and a deep passion for developing young athletes to the Menifee Mustangs, where he has been coaching since 2023. Bryan’s journey through track and field is one marked by discipline, excellence, and an enduring love for the sport.
​
His sprinting career took off at Canyon Springs High School, where he became one of the most decorated high school athletes in California history. Bryan was a 12-time CIF Champion, a California State Champion in the 100 meters, and a multiple-time Master Meet Champion. He also captured numerous national titles, including four Junior Olympic championships in the 100 meters and three in the 4x400 relay. His exceptional accomplishments later earned him induction into the Canyon Springs High School Hall of Fame in 2023.

Bryan continued his dominance at Auburn University, where he became an NCAA Division I National Champion, eventually representing Team USA on the world stage and bringing home multiple gold medals. As a professional sprinter sponsored by Adidas and Oakley, he competed internationally, earning recognition for his speed, professionalism, and dedication to excellence.
Today, Coach Howard channels his experience and passion into mentorship, guiding youth athletes to build confidence, discipline, and a love for track and field. He believes in developing each athlete not only for competitive success but also for a lifelong appreciation of the sport’s values. Through his leadership, the next generation of Mustangs continues to be inspired by one of track and field’s true champions.

Coach Nevada Curtis
Coach Nevada Curtis has been with the Menifee Mustangs since 2023 and brings a wealth of track and field experience to the team. An 8-time National Champion in the 4x400 relay, 3-time National Champion in the 400m dash, and 22-time All-American, she also holds five school records and was inducted into Wartburg College’s Hall of Fame in 2022.
With a master’s degree in education focused on athletic coaching, Coach Nevada inspires her athletes with her favorite motto: “Run to win,” helping them develop skill, confidence, and a love for the sport.

Coach Joe Garcia
Coach Joe has coached with the Mustangs since 2025 and brings extensive experience developing young athletes in baseball, basketball, and flag football for ages 5–15. He focuses on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and fostering teamwork in a positive and encouraging environment.
A lifelong athlete, Joe excelled in baseball and still plays shortstop on an amateur team in Murrieta, where he impressively batted over .500 last season at age 39.

Coach Tierra Trembley
Coach Tierra Trembley has been with the Menifee Mustangs since 2023 and brings a passion for track and field and youth development to the team. She ran track in high school and has continued her love of running into adulthood, completing over 40 races including 5Ks, 10Ks, and two half marathons.
A USATF Level 1 Coach, Tierra has also earned the University of Florida’s Science of Training Young Athletes certification. She believes in using track and field to build resilience, confidence, and a lifelong love of the sport in every athlete she coaches.

Coach Jordan Smith
Coach Jordan Smith joined the Menifee Mustangs in 2024 and brings a lifelong passion for track and youth development. He competed in high school track events including the 400m, long jump, and triple jump, played college basketball, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
With experience coaching basketball and football, Jordan focuses on helping athletes improve little by little—emphasizing personal growth and achieving personal bests over placement.

Coach Jeffrey Henry
Coach Jeffrey Henry joined the Menifee Mustangs in 2025 and brings a strong background in track and youth coaching. A former high school sprinter specializing in sprints and relays, Jeff has coached youth track and field, flag football, and high school athletes at Liberty High School.
He focuses on putting the athlete first, helping them grow in skill, confidence, and love for the sport.

Coach William Chau
Coach William Chau is one of the newest members of the Menifee Mustangs coaching team. A lifelong runner, he competed in high school and continues his passion for running through marathon participation.
Inspired by watching his own children grow in the sport and by the impact of a great coach in his life, Coach Will is dedicated to passing on his love for track and helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence.

Coach Naomi
Coach Naomi joined the Menifee Mustangs coaching staff for the 2025 track and field season. Her love for the sport began at the young age of six and continued through her college years, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for fitness, discipline, and teamwork.

Beyond the track, Coach Naomi has dedicated her life to service through a rewarding career in the U.S. Air Force. That same spirit of dedication and leadership now drives her work with the Mustangs. As a coach, Naomi hopes to inspire the next generation of athletes to build a strong foundation in fitness, embrace a healthy lifestyle, and—most importantly—find joy in movement.

Coach Portia
Coach Portia joined the Menifee Mustangs family in 2024 as a supportive parent and quickly found herself stepping into a coaching role for the 2025 season. Her enthusiasm for helping young athletes grow—both on and off the field—has made her an invaluable part of the coaching team.

Coach Portia brings encouragement, patience, and a genuine love for the sport to every practice. She believes that track and field is more than just competition; it’s an opportunity for kids to discover their confidence, build character, and celebrate progress at every level.

Coach Bianca
Coach Bianca joined the Menifee Mustangs family in 2024 as a proud parent and became a coach for the 2025 season. Though new to coaching track and field, she brings a strong background in both playing and coaching soccer. A lifelong athlete, Bianca is passionate about helping youth thrive through sports.
​
She leads by example—bringing energy, structure, and fun to every practice. Whether she’s demonstrating proper form or guiding athletes through relays and throwing events, Coach Bianca believes in developing athletes through discipline, encouragement, and patience. Her hands-on approach helps young athletes grow both in skill and confidence.

Coach Tyler
Coach Tyler joined the Mustangs for the 2025 season, continuing a proud family legacy of track and field excellence. His passion for the sport runs deep—his parents and grandfather were all accomplished track athletes and coaches, with his grandfather competing for Pepperdine University in the 1960s.
​
Tyler began running in kindergarten during the Elementary Olympics and later competed with a local track club through middle school. His talent earned him opportunities to run at the collegiate level for Azusa Pacific University, where he specialized in the 400m hurdles.
​
An AAU All-American and 3rd-place national finisher in the 400m hurdles, Tyler has received multiple full-ride scholarship offers from universities nationwide. As a coach, he describes his style as encouraging and uplifting—focused on providing personalized, feedback-driven guidance that helps each athlete reach their full potential.

Coach Lorne
Coach Lorne became part of the Menifee Mustangs family in 2024 as an involved and supportive parent and quickly transitioned into a coaching role for the 2025 season. With a rich family history in track and field—his sister, aunt, and uncle all competed in the sport—Coach Lorne brings firsthand experience as a former sprinter.

Beyond track, he has served as a Junior Lifeguard captain, competed semi-professionally in soccer, and both played and coached football. His well-rounded athletic background allows him to connect with athletes on many levels.

Coach Lorne’s coaching style is supportive yet challenging—pushing athletes to improve, believe in themselves, and unlock their full potential. His motivational presence on the field inspires athletes to bring their best effort every day.

Coach Neesie
Coach Neesie joined the Menifee Mustangs family during the 2024 track and field season. Known affectionately as the “team mom,” she brings heart, energy, and positivity to everything she does. For the 2025 season, she proudly steps into her first official coaching role.
​
With an athletic background in dance, cheerleading, and soccer, Coach Neesie’s competitive spirit and enthusiasm shine through in her coaching.
She blends discipline with fun, often turning tough workouts into engaging, playful challenges that keep athletes motivated.
Beyond her coaching skills, Neesie is a passionate advocate for every athlete she works with, ensuring they feel supported, encouraged, and valued both on and off the track.

Coach Mackey
Coach Mackey joined the Menifee Mustangs family in 2024 and leads the Bakersfield chapter. He brings a wealth of athletic and coaching experience to the program. A multi-sport athlete throughout his youth, Mackey excelled in baseball, track, and was a standout running back in both high school and college.
​
With years of experience coaching at various levels—including as a North of the River and Golden Empire Football Coach, Head High School Football Coach, and Little League Baseball Coach—Coach Mackey is deeply committed to athlete development both on and off the field.
​
His coaching philosophy centers on growth, discipline, and academic success. Known for his laid-back yet assertive approach, he encourages athletes to set goals, stay focused, and believe in their ability to achieve excellence in sports and in life.

Coach Crystal
Coach Crystal joined the Menifee Mustangs coaching staff in 2024, bringing extensive experience as both a track athlete and mentor. Having competed in track and field at the high school and collegiate levels, she understands firsthand the dedication and determination the sport requires.

Coach Crystal’s passion lies in developing young athletes and helping them discover the joy in the process. Her coaching style combines energy, humor, and positivity, creating a fun and motivating atmosphere where athletes can learn and grow.

Always leading by example, she can often be found running alongside her athletes—showing them that hard work and perseverance can be both rewarding and enjoyable.

Coach Busola
Coach Busola has been part of the Menifee Mustangs family since the very beginning and continues to play an essential role year after year. She began running track at the age of nine and has remained passionate about the sport ever since.
​
A true athlete at heart, Coach Busola still competes at the Masters level, inspiring her athletes through her example. She holds an impressive athletic record, including breaking an 18-year-old high school record and earning second place in the 4x200 relay at the Minnesota State Championships.
​
Her coaching style is stern yet fun, emphasizing discipline, fundamentals, and a love for the sport. Her favorite events include the 200m, long jump, and relays. Known for her infectious energy and genuine care for young athletes, Coach Busola brings enthusiasm and excellence to everything she does.

Coach Dom
Coach Dom joined the Menifee Mustangs family during the 2025 track and field season. While he’s new to the organization, he brings extensive experience both as an athlete and as a coach. In addition to coaching a travel basketball team, he has a diverse athletic background that includes basketball, football, and track and field. Dom’s love for track began in high school, where he was a self-taught hurdler and ranked among the top five in his school’s history in the 300m hurdles. He went on to compete at the collegiate level for California State University San Marcos, where he represented his university nationally in the 4x400m relay.
​
Beyond athletics, Coach Dom is also a talented musician whose work has been featured on radio stations across Southern California. His creative and competitive spirit carries over into his coaching. Known for his detail-oriented and technical approach, Coach Dom focuses on helping athletes understand the “why” behind every movement.
​
He often uses hurdling as a metaphor for life—reminding athletes that every obstacle is a chance to grow stronger. His goal is to encourage and empower the next generation to dig deep, stay disciplined, and reach their highest potential both on and off the track.
